Prime bounce back from home woes, hit Akwa Starlets 1 – 0

Prime Football Club kept their hopes of Globacom Premier League qualification alive with a breezy 1 – 0 victory against Akwa Starlets Football Club of Uyo.

The Omoluabi Giants bounced back from a disappointing poor run of form at home, putting a goal past Akwa Starlets at the weekend.
Victory was secured for the homers thanks to consolatory goal from striker Ifeanyi Emmanuel, via a goal-mouth melee in the 29th minute to give Prime first league win since March 22, 2014.

The maximum points inched the Omoluabi Giants close to the table toppers, Shooting Stars Sports Club of Ibadan, adrift with three points.
Prime head coach, Abimbola Samuel, was delighted to see his players respond in style and praised the home fans for their support and patience.
He said: “It was an excellent win and the lads played the right way and everything went according to plan. The attitude was there as well as the work rate and we defended well too.

“I’ve got to give credit to the lads. They were prepared and did a good job to secure the maximum points and that will be a morale booster for us to the next game. We’ve bounced back now and we will never go down again.”
Speaking ahead of next weekend game away from home against Unicem Rovers FC of Calabar, he urged the fans to pray for the team to come back with something meaningful.

“I want to request our fans to keep praying for the team. We need their prayers to keep going in the league because confidence has been restored to the team and by God’s grace, we shall storm Calabar  and come back home with something tangible to rejoice with,” enthused the former Sunshine gaffer.
Asked if Prime is still in the race for one of the promotion ticket to the elite league, the former Flying Eagles assistant coach noted: “We’re still in the race. We will not lose focus and at the end of the season Prime will pick one of the promotion tickets. We’ll work towards it.”
