Concerned by the need to keep standards, the Principal of Government Girls’ Secondary School, Dutsen-Alhaji, Hajia Binta Nasir, has disclosed that the school “needs more support from the FCTA.”
The principal told our correspondent that the school was committed to ensuring that its standard was upheld, but urged the FCT administration to provide more infrastructure for the school.
She added that additional hostel accommodation and drilling of a borehole as major areas that were begging for attention.
“The FCT Administration, especially the education secretariat, is doing well in supporting our school, but we need more to support what is on ground; this will help us to maintain the existing standard,” she said.
Though Mrs. Nasir commended what the administration was doing, she said “more is needed from the government to boost teaching and learning in the school.”
On security, the principal said there was no security challenge within the school, even as she commended the cooperation of the host community.
She rated resumption of the students at the second term as commendable and assured parents of the school management and staff’s resolve to do all that could enhance quality learning.
The principal said the school “will be embarking on education programmes that would instill much better knowledge in the minds of the younger ones, especially the female ones who are going to be future parents.”
