Prof. Akintoye Ilana Omo Oodua leader not kidnapped – Spokesman

The Coalition of Yoruba Self-determination groups, Ilana Omo Oodua, Sunday dispelled the rumour making the rounds about kidnap of its leader, Professor Banjo Akintoye.

Ilana Omo Oodua in a statement made available to journalists in Ibadan by the communications manager to Professor Banji Akintoye/media and communications secretary, Ilana Omo Oodua, Comrade Maxwell Adeleke, said Prof. Akintoye is hale, healthy and safe.

“Professor Banji Akintoye is very safe, and he is in a good state of health in his home. The ongoing rumour that the member of the Second Republic Senate has been kidnapped, and his where about unknown, is the handiwork of the forces who want to destabilise Yoruba land, and we put it to them very expressly that their mission has failed,” he said.

Comrade Adeleke added, “The Yoruba people have decided, and they have taken a position to move out of the Goghota.

“Sequel to the series of calls and text messages we have received in the last 10 hours on the safety of the leader of Yoruba Self-Determination Struggle and the Alana of Ilana Omo Oodua Worldwide, Emeritus Professor Banji Akintoye, we consider it sacrosanct, necessary and germane to make this rebuttal known, succinctly.”
