Promise, Tina emerge Youth Games fastest sprinters


Promise Egbe of Oyo state and Tina Godbless of Bayelsa state have emerged the fastest sprinter at the 5th National Youth Games ongoing at University of Ilorin.
Promise ran11:22secs to win the boys 100 meter sprint gold medal beating team mate Daniel Agboola also of Oyo state who ran 11:47secs and Tamunotonye Abagwo of Bayelsa state who ran 11:49secs to place third.


Tina Godbless’ 12:17secs was enough to win the girls blue ribald event beating Delta state duo of Taiye Ayenuro who ran 12:22secs to claim silver and Tiana Solomon who ran 12:32secs to win the bronze medal. 


In the boys high jump, Team Delta’s Goodness Iredia scaled a height of 1.90m to win gold medal, David Omonehin of Lagos state jumped 1.75m to win silver, while home boy, Olatundun Boluwatife of Kwara state claimed bronze medal after clearing 1.60m height.


Anambra state claimed shot put boys gold medal through Chidera Shehu who hauled 13:46m, Thompson Michael of Abia state threw 13:33m to win silver, while Orija Oluwaseyi of Ogun state won bronze medal with a throw of 12:26m. 


Adunola Temitope threw a distance of 11:80m to win the girls shot put, Chiamaka Nwafor of Imo state won silver with a throw of 10:22m, while Chiamaka Okoye of Anambra state threw 9:69m to win bronze medal. 
The other track and field events continue Sunday and Monday.
