Proposed Pen Resource University receives NUC’s second and final resource verification team, awaits approval

The Proposed Pen Resource University had yesterday 5th March, 2021 received its second and the final resource verification team from the National Universities Commission.

The team which was led by the head of the directorate for the establishment of private Universities, Mrs. Constance Goddy-Nnadi was in Gombe to officially perform the final resource verification of the proposed PRU.

Received by the Executive Director of the Pen Resource Academy Gombe who is also the promoter of the proposed Pen Resource University, Dr. Sani Jauro, some Board Members of the Academy and Members of the Planning and Implementation Committee of the proposed University, the NUC Team was conducted round the proposed University for the official task.

In his welcome address, Dr. Sani Jauro commended the efforts of the team and thanked them for the timely visit.

“We are indeed happy to receive you today for the purpose of your second and final resource verification visit. On behalf of the Board of Directors and the entire members of the Planning and Implementation Committee, we thank you most sincerely”, Dr. Sani said.

Sani Jauro added that, “we have complied 100% with all your prescriptions and added many other facilities that you did request us add. This shows our commitment to the establishment of this university as a high quality university with the best possible facilities for high quality teaching, research and community when the university comes to be.”

Professor Sani Abba Aliyu of the department English at the Ahmadu Bello University Zaria who represents the Professors in the Nigerian universities described the proposed Pen Resource University as the first indigenous private university in the North East region. “Certainly, Pen Resource University deserves all commendation. Their commitment for quality is palpable based on the quality and quantity of facilities on ground”, he added.

In her remarks, the Commission’s head of the Directorate for the Establishment of Private  universities who also led the NUC team to Gombe, Mrs. Constance Goddy-Nnady stated that the team was highly IMPRESSED with what they have seen.

“We were impressed since our first visitation and now we are highly impressed by the commitment of the Promoter and PIC members in making sure that all the observations that have been made during the first visitation have been taken care of. In fact, you have done better than we asked you to do”, she said.

“We want to on behalf of the ES appreciate your efforts for the enormous resources and the rigous you have to go through to be able to come to this stage. We are happy” She added.

In an interview after the inspection visit, Dr Sani Jauro added that the proposed University has set a target for itself to become one of the best 10 universities in Nigeria in the next 15 years. “We know where we are going, we know how to get there and we are determined to make it by the Grace of the Almighty Allah” he said.
