Prove Buhari’s confidence in youth, group tells EFCC boss-nominee

As reactions continue to trail the appointment of Abdulrasheed Bawa as Chairmanof the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), the Coalition of Northern Ethnic Youth Leaders (CONNELY) has urged the new appointee to justify the trust of President Muhammadu Buhari in youth in building a new Nigeria.

The group in a statement jointly signed by its national coordinator, Comrade Yusuf Yahuza and deputy coordinator, Adamu Abbas Ahman, congratulated the EFCC boss and charged him to deliver on the vision of the President on eradicating corruption and making the country great again after years of rot and decay.

CONNELY further urged the new EFCC boss to double his efforts in setting straight the cases of abuse of office and cover ups that became the other of the day at EFCC under the previous leadership, insisting that he must work with the realisation that nobody is above the law and that corruption must not go unpunished.

“We call on the new leadership of EFCC under the leadership of Abdulrasheed Bawa to revisit the previous cases that were either swept under the carpet because of vested interests or high handedness and bring every person who is bent on thwarting the war against financial crimes to book.

“You must take advantage of your experience as an insider, and avoid the issues that brought unnecessary controversies around successive leadership of the EFCC. One sure way to success is to tall the path of Mr President by being upright in every respect understanding that the interest of Nigeria is paramount before any other consideration”, the group noted.
