Provide relief materials for Nasarawa flood victims, state assembly begs Sule

The Nasarawa state House of Assembly has urged the state government to provide relief materials to victims of flood in the state.

The speaker, Hon. Ibrahim Balarabe Abdullahi, stated this, Monday, while reading the House resolution after the majority leader, Hon. Tanko Tunga, raised the issue under matters of public importance during proceedings in Lafia.

He said the devastating flooding across the state had rendered many homeless as lives, buildings, farm lands among other properties were destroyed, hence the need for the House resolution to that effect.

The speaker also called on the state government to relocate communities affected by flood to safer places for their comfort and improve on their standard of living.

He stated that the efforts were to reduce their plight due to the devastating effects of flooding that wrecked havoc in many communities across the state.

He urged the state government to provide more funds to the Nasarawa State Emergency Management Agency (NASEMA) to enable the agency discharge its duties effectively.

He also called on relevant bodies like Nasarawa state Urban Development Board (NUDB) and National Orientation Agency (NOA) to be more proactive in their activities regarding flooding to ensure proper development control across the state.
