PSG set to pay Mbappe £860,000-a-week, to scare Man City away …see top 10 paid footballers

Paris Saint-Germain will reportedly attempt to block a huge offer from Manchester City for Kylian Mbappe by offering him a whopping £860,000-a-week new contract.

However, it all depends on Barcelona buying back wantaway Neymar from the Ligue 1 champions.

French publication El Pais claims today that City have been trying to lure the 20-year-old forward to the Premier League with boss Pep Guardiola in regular contact with him throughout the past few years.

Naturally, PSG are desperate to hang on to the ex-Monaco hitman and hope by making him the second-best paid player on the planet will convince him to stay.

It is alleged they are putting together a £45million annual package, which would see him pocket around £860k per week.

But they will only be able to make Mbappe that mouthwatering offer if they can find extra funds on their pay roll.

And that would rely on them shifting £27m-a-year Neymar, 27, off the wage bill.

He has been courting a move back “home” to Barcelona all summer and has asked the PSG board to let him leave.

Despite his controversial departure from the Nou Camp two years ago, the Catalans are still keen to have him back but financial restrictions are proving a huge stumbling block to any transfer.

Meanwhile, Guardiola is still trying to capture World Cup winner Mbappe.

The attacker is under contract until 2022 at Parc des Princes but City want a long-term replacement for the club’s all-time top goalscorer Sergio Aguero.

Aguero, 31, still has plenty left in the tank but the opportunity to sign Mbappe to fill his shoes would be too good to miss for the Treble-winners.
