PTAD warns pensioners against scammers

The management of Pensions Transition Arrangement Directorate ( PTAD) has urged pensioners to be wary of scammers who defraud pentioners in the name of helping them to collect their pension and gratuities.

The Executive Secretary  PTAD Dr Chioma Ejikeme, who gave the warning in Lokoja Tuesday when she visited the seventh phase of Parastatals Pensioners Verification Exercise for pensioners under the defined benefit scheme on going across the north central states, said frauders call pensioners pretending to be staff of PTAD demanding for money from pensioners to facilitate the payment of  their pension and gratuities.

“I am warning you the pensioners not to fall for these scammers who are after how they can defraud you of your money. If you have any complaints do not hesitate to call us.

“Those are scammers who will collect your money and disappear into thin air without rendering any assistance to you because they are not our staff” she warned.

She pointed out that the aim and objective of the verification was to ensure that the actual retirees takes their pensions as at when due, adding that through the verification those having problems of receiving their pensions and gratuities will be looked into with a view to solve the problem for them.

“We are in Lokoja, Kogi state and the north central zone verified pensioners who retired under the defined benefit scheme from parastatals and agencies to capture.

“We are here to capture eligible pensioners, we are here to make sure that those who we will have at the end of the exercise on our data base are people who deserved to take pension”
