Kwara state branch of PDP will today elect a new executive committee amidst intense jostling for the soul of the party.
A five-man member committee from the national secretariat, led by Senator Barnabas Gemade, would oversee the conduct of the exercise.
Prospective governorship aspirants in the state, yesterday, perfected strategies to install their loyalists in key party offices, especially as party chairman and secretary.
A statement by the Secretary of the Kwara Integrity Group, Segun Abioye, said several meetings were held in Ilorin, the state capital.

The meeting, he said, reviewed the list of candidates and assessed their chances in today’s contest which pitched old members of the party against those who defected from other parties, especially from the All Progressives Congress (APC) and the defunct Congress for Progressive Change (CPC).
He listed those governorship aspirants seeking to influence the composition of the new state executive committee to among others include;  Prof. Oba Abdulraheem,  Senator Gbemisola Saraki, Mr. Dele Belgore,  Senator Simeon Ajibolaand Senator Suleiman Ajadi.

Leading the pack, Abioye said, is an oil magnate, Hajia Muina Shagaya, “who has committed huge funds to the party since a caretaker executive committee was assembled for the party in Kwara state about three months ago.”
He said if the arrangement worked out,  a former acting national publicity secretary and member, Goodluck-Sambo Presidential campaign council, Hon. Bode Ojomu, might emerge the state chairman, former Kiama council chairman, Hon. Musa Inuwa Kallah will deputise, while former boss of  Kwara Environmental Protection Agency(KWEPA), Dr. Abdulsalam Salam, may be elected as  secretary.
The rest are one-time general manager of KWTV, Malam Tajudeen Abdulkareem, as state publicity secretary and Barrister Sharafadeen Ibrahim for the post of state organising secretary.
