Ramadan: Cleric urges prayers for Nigeria’s unity, peace

Chief Imam Nasrul-lahi-li Fathi Society of Nigeria (NASFAT) Kaduna state chapter, Imam Marooph Raji, has called on Muslim faithful to offer special prayer for peace and unity of Nigeria during the Ramadan fasting.
Addressing the 2021 maiden annual Ramadan Tafsir in Kaduna on Sunday, the Cleric noted that the nation needed more prayer now than ever due to the emerging security and economic challenges.

“Muslim Ummah (faithful) and other people from other religious inclinations should join in making special and constant supplication to Allah concerning the state of the nation. As Nigerians, we should dedicate ourselves this Ramadan to asking for Allah’s intervention in our polity and seeking forgiveness where we have gone wrong.

“Ramadan is a month during which Allah opens the gate of blessings and forgiveness. Nigerians should shun all forms of evil, people should stop telling lies to check unnecessary disagreements. Our people should copy that which is good; shun all forms of evil and sin. Allah gave an express command in the Holy Qur’an that we should fear Him in all we do and in our interaction with one another,’’ he said.
Imam Raji, who was presented with certificate award for an online training organised by Al Azar University Egypt Dauratul Ahima, called on Nigerians to use the Holy month as a period of self-restrain and focus on God seeking forgiveness for their shortcomings.
The Imam attributed corruption and security challenges facing the nation today to disobedience to Almighty injunctions.

He prayed for peace, security and stability in the country, while calling all to continue to reflect on the holy books’ teachings.
“Today’s teaching is about how Allah bestowed his blessings on Bani Israil and they disobeyed his commandments, after which they face a lot of challenges in their life. It is same with our country. Allah has blessed us in so many ways but instead of obeying him, disobedience is so rampant in the country,” he said.

A member of the Mission Board, Malam Luqman Salati, while declaring the Tafsir Open, said Muslims should be grateful to Allah for giving them the holy month of Ramadan to right their wrongs.
He said they should be thankful for witnessing another Tafsir because for the past one year the Tafsir couldn’t hold due to covid-19 pandemic
He called on all Muslims to use the Qur’an to resolve their life challenges because evey challenge has a solution in the Qur’an.
