Ramadan: Sokoto earmarks N300m for widows, orphans

Sokoto state government has earmarked additional N300 million for assistance to orphans and widows during Ramadan and Sallah festivities, Governor Aminu Waziri Tambuwal, has disclosed.
The governor, who stated this shortly after breaking Ramadan Fast with persons with disabilities, assured that his administration would continue to implement policies aimed at improving their well-being.
Tambuwal said because of their significant position, government usually hosts them for the Ramadan Iftar at the Government House as “we do not discriminate among the indigenes.” He said “present Administration has sustained the monthly N6, 500 paid to persons with disabilities inherited from the immediate past Administration so as to further improve their well-being.”
The governor explained that as part of efforts to encourage the pursuit of education by children of persons with disabilities, government is assisting them as can be attested to by the Sarkin Makarfi. He gave the assurance that government would continue to support and encourage them to contribute to the development of the state.
