As a fellow loyalist of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, my attention has been drawn to a publication in the Blueprint written by one Plagnang Josep Zakari, a student of mass communication at the University of Maiduguri. In the piece, Zakari called on the Governor Bala Mohammed of Bauchi state to reshuffle his cabinet, claiming that Toro local government area is being marginalised in the state’s affairs.
Zakari said Bala has been segregating the Toro populace in his administration in terms of political appointments, infrastructural development and non-enjoyment of democratic dividends. The writer’s claims are mischievous aimed to blackmail the governor.
Consequently, the great people of Toro are distancing themselves from the false accusations. It’s on record that the governor has widely been appreciated for his giant strides at improving the lives of the people of Toro. To clear the writer’s doubt, the governor has executed tremendous projects in the local government area.
Governor Bala Mohammed has constructed the 91 kilometres road linking Magama Gumau to Saminaka; Marraban Ganye and Bakin Kogi, and the road linking Rimini Zayyan and Dass, Rishi to Tulu, among other roads, in Toro local government area.
The governor has also renovated Toro General Hospital with outstanding medical equipment and qualified health personnel; he restored the hospital’s abandoned and moribund section to standard medical faculty. Similarly, he ordered the building of a new general hospital in the local government area located at Gumau.
He renovated countless primary health care facilities in the local government area as well as provided them with the needed material and qualified health personnel to improve the standard of living of the people of Toro and Bauchi state in general.
On education, Governor Bala has built and renovated many schools in the local government area. This is to ensure that children have access to education as well as reduce the huge number of out-of-school children in the state.
Bala has done remarkably well by providing the rural communities with electricity and potable water.
From the foregoing, I urge the good people of Bauchi state to distance themselves from Zakari’s mischievous claims. Governor Bala is not segregating Toro people in any way but working hand in hand with them to ensure inclusive governance in the state and providing people with the dividends of democracy.
Even with the recent appointment, Bala balanced it by appointing another daughter of Toro to fill the vacancy left by Dr Aliyu Usman Tilde; not just the commissioner’s appointment all the remaining appointments are balanced.
