Re-run elections in Kaduna: Be Fair to all parties, IPAC urges INEC

In the build up to the rerun election in Sanga and Kagarko constituencies of Kaduna State, the Inter Party Advisory Council Of Nigeria, IPAC, Kaduna State Chapter  has urged Independent National Electoral Commissions, INEC, to be fair to all parties involved in the election.

The rerun which was scheduled for 25th January, 2020 was as a result of an order of the Appeal Court.

In a statement signed by the Chairman of IPAC, Mikailu Abubakar, which was made available to newsmen in Kaduna yesterday enjoined all political parties involved in the election to be law abiding.

While calling on parties loyalists to uphold the rules governing the electioneering process, the Chairman said: “INEC should ensure transparency of the process.

“INEC, as an umpire of the elections must be free and fair in conducting the elections”.

He said, to avoid any form of break down of law and order during the election, security operatives must be up and doing.

The Chairman of IPAC further explained that for the elections to be credible, Police and other security agencies must avoid been partisan.

” The security personnel deployed to Polling Units where election would be conducted should ensure that voters are adequately protected”, Abubakar emphasized.

In the statement, Abubakar also urged the media to uphold the tenets of their profession while covering the process of the elections and give accurate account of the election without been bias.
