Recession: Group shops for God- fearing leader

As recession resurfaces in Nigeria, a political group, National Democratic Mandate Group (NDMG), has called on Nigerians to commence an intensive search for a God fearing leader capable of changing the situation after the expiration of President Mohammadu Buhari’s tenure in 2023.

The national chairman of NDMG, Chief Isaac Udeh, who made the call in Awka while addressing journalists shortly after the inauguration of Anambra state chapter of NDMG, averred that the only solution to end social-economic, political and other agitations threatening the unity and development of the country, was for Nigerians to rise up for search of quality leadership .

Udeh said NDMG as a political movement, with over 6 million members spread across the 36 states of the federation and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Abuja, was ready to support such a good leader of any political party or zones to win the election.

“I think, what Nigerians want now is a leader who can keep godfatherism, religion, tribalism and ethnic advises apart, and address the uncontrollable security, unemployment and other numerous economic challenges the country is currently facing,” he stated.

A governorship aspirant in the 2021 Anambra gubernatorial election and a retired director at the Nigeria National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC), Reverend Godwin Okonkwo, who was honoured with NDMG excellent award, while collaborating the call for a God fearing leader, said by allowing candidates from the South east zone to contest, political parties would engender peace, tranquility and development of the country.
