Recession: Nigeria’s economy still weak, inflation is high – Atiku

Former Vice President and chieftain of the All Progressives Congress, (APC), Atiku Abubakar, has cautioned that while Nigerians must rejoice over the official emergence of the country from recession, it’s also important to recognize that the economic weakness at the bottom of the pyramid remains, adding that ‘inflation is still high.’

Atiku, who is an investor and employer of labour, however, described the news of Nigeria’s official emergence from recession as a most welcome development.

Atiku Abubakar said in a press statement released by his media office in Abuja Wednesday that the news was surely a boost for Nigeria – it tells investors, local and foreign, that our economy is worth investing in.

“We must continue working hard to expand economic opportunity for all Nigerians”, Atiku said.

“When all Nigerians can eat three square meals, that’s when the real recession ends. We have work to do”, he said.
