Reckless remand warrants responsible for prison congestion – Commissioner

By

The Taraba state commissioner for justice and attorney general of the state, Barrister Sam Adda,  Thursday lamented that reckless issuance of reckless remand warrants by area and magistrate courts in the state are responsible for prison congestion.

Adda, who stated this in Jalingo while speaking to journalists in his office said  such attitudes had caused detention of people without first appearance in court, which he tagged undesirable.

He said  the Taraba administration of criminal justice system which had already passed the second reading at the state House of Assembly would address most of the unwholesome practices perpetrated by judges in the state.

He maintained that  Gov.  Darius Ishaku  is passionate about reforming the Justice system that would at the end give Justice to the common man.

He also eulogise the governor for implementing laws that were enacted by the state legislators from 2015 till date.
