Recruit more teachers into primary schools, UBEC boss tells Oyo govt

The Executive Secretary, Universal Basic Education Commission (UBEC), Dr. Hamid Bobboyi, on Friday asked the Oyo state government to recruit more teachers into its primary schools.

Dr Bobboyi gave the charge in the on-going 2022 National Personnel Audit team’s recommendation to Oyo state government.

Speaking through the Head of the Audit team, Engr. Muhammed Bello, the commission’s boss said the need to recruit more teachers became manifest during the just concluded personnel audit by the commission in the state.

“We urge the Oyo state government to look into recruitment of more teachers into public primary schools in the state,” he said.

Dr Bobboyi, who disclosed that the commission discovered a lot of progress made, compared to the previous exercises, said: “Though entry is still ongoing, we would give the board update on the list and give the state government accurate data in order to plan and develop basic education.”

The Executive Chairman, Oyo State Universal Basic Education Board (UBEB), Dr. Nureni Aderemi Adeniran, admitted the shortage of teachers in the state, noting that the state government was making efforts towards fresh recruitment and replacement of seconded teachers
