Redouble your efforts to end insecurity – Buratai charges troops

The Chief of Army Staff, Lt. Gen. Tukur Buratai has charged officers and soldiers of the Nigerian Army to redouble their efforts in the various ongoing security operations to rid the country of criminals.
The army chief gave the charge in his message on the occasion of the Eid-El Fitr celebration.
Buratai also charged them to always maintain discipline, commitment, dedication, resilience and courage in the discharge of their duties.
He said the Sallah celebration “offered an opportunity for spiritual upliftment and renewal” of the troops’ collective commitment to the Nigerian Army and the Nation.
He commended personnel of the Nigerian Army for their “tireless contribution in the sustenance of peace and security across the Country”, and I urged them to remain “professionally focused.” The army chief said the Nigerian Army had recorded “tremendous” successes in the various activities conducted in the country in the last few months.
“These activities include the successful conduct of Operation DEEP PUNCH II, Exercise AYEM AKPATUMA (Cat Race) Operation LAST HOLD which is ongoing and the hosting of the African Land Forces Summit in Abuja to mention but few,” he said.
“Furthermore, we have effectively tackled the Boko Haram Insurgency.
However, in the areas of kidnapping, cattle rustling in the North Central and North Western Regions; we are re-strategising to decisively deal with the situation.” While reaffirming “unalloyed loyalty” of personnel of the Nigerian Army to the President, the army chief said the Nigerian Army would continue to remain apolitical while ensuring the sustenance of democracy.
Butarai also reiterated “total” commitment towards achieving his vision for the Nigerian Army.

Duro Faseyi, has said that the bravery and commitment of troops of the Nigerian Air Force greatly contributed to the relative peace being enjoyed by people of North East.
The Senator said this in Maiduguri when he accompanied the Chief of Air Staff (CAS), Air Marshal Sadique Abubakar to celebrate Eid-el Fitr with personnel of the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) serving in the frontlines.
He said Nigerians “truly” appreciate the daily sacrifices troops of the Armed Forces of Nigeria of keeping the country united and safe for every citizen.
He, however, urged them to remain committed in the interest of the nation.
While inaugurating a newly built multipurpose hall at NAF 105 Composite Group, Maiduguri, Faseyi said the construction of the hall for use by the frontline troops was another significant achievement by NAF.
He said the Senate Committee on Air Force had witnessed several projects emnbarked on by NAF leadership across NAF units, which were geared towards enhancing operational effectiveness and the morale of personnel.
In his remarks, the Chief of Air Staff said he had come to celebrate Sallah with the troops as an “appreciation of their efforts towards ensuring that Nigerians are secured and are able to pursue their legitimate aspirations without any hindrance.” The CAS said NAF had made a lot of gains in the area of professionalism, adding NAF had undergone expansion for “enhanced operational effectiveness, administrative efficiency and better service delivery.” He said several Special Forces personnel had been trained and already deployed to newly established NAF units across the country.
The air chief said the service had “largely” addressed the welfare needs of personnel, especially through the provision of residential accommodation and distribution of uniforms, adding that the Federal Government had always supported NAF’s efforts toward enhancing its capability through acquisition of new platforms and reactivation of grounded ones.
The new inaugurated hall, which was named after late Air Vice Marshal Emmanuel Edem, a onetime Air Officer Commanding Tactical Air Command.
“It is my desire to transform the NA into a more potent and professional responsive force that will effectively curtail contemporary security challenges,” he said.
“To this end, I want to reassure you all that issues bothering on training and welfare will continue to receive my utmost attention.
“We shall continue to do our best to ensure the wellbeing of our officers and soldiers as well as their families.”
