To further strategise on ways to promote regional integration, the Osun state government would in December hold this year’s Regional Youth Summit.
This was contained in a release signed by the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Regional Integration, Mr. Wale Alabi in Osogbo yesterday.
According to the release, governors of Oyo, Osun, Ekiti, Ogun, Ondo, and Lagos states would converge on Osogbo at Atlantis Civic Events Centre.
The theme of the summit, according to the release, is “West 2040: Productivity, Prosperity and Peace.”
It stated that the programme “is an agenda for youth in the six states of the western zone to discuss the future of the region.”
Alabi said the event was a regional strategy designed to further champion cause for youth development.
He said: “Regional Integration is a process in which neighboring states enter into an agreement in order to upgrade cooperation through common institutions and rules.
“The two-day summit is aimed at engaging the youths as stakeholders in Development Agenda for Western Nigeria (DAWN) to contribute through a robust discussion and bring ideas which could foster amicable relationship among the people of the west for human and capital development.
“As we all know that our amiable governor, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola, is fully committed to the integration of the west because he believes it is the only way the region can fully explore its potentials for the benefit of all.”
