Registration your power to decide candidates, Akume tells APC faithful

Minister of Special Duties and Intergovernmental Affairs Sen George Akume, Tuesday said the All Progressive Congress (APC) membership revalidation and registration exercise was the power of every APC member to decide the right candidates in the forthcoming election and must be taken seriously.

He equally said the exercise will also further authenticate membership of the party and expose to the world that APC was not manufacturing figures but truly has large number of supporters in the country.

Akume said this during the flag off of the revalidation and registration exercise of the party’s membership at Mbakor Central Youth Polling Unit, Wannue, Tarka Local Government Area of the state.

The former governor of Benue state who picked APC registration number BN/WNN/20/0001 at the Mbakor Central Youth Polling Unit described the exercise a sensitive one that must be hitch-free.

The Minister further urged the youth to take adequate advantage of the numerous presidential initiatives in education, agriculture, business amongst others to improve their living standard.

He said the ongoing dualization of Keffi-Makurdi road, rehabilitation of Gboko-Makurdi road were some of the things Buhari was doing to alleviate the sufferings of the masses and improve their living standard.

He commended the President for approving the establishment of a Federal Polytechnic sighted at Wannue, Tarka, his home LG and said more projects were underway for the state.

Earlier, Alhaji Mohammed Mashi, Chairman, Benue Revalidation and Registration Panel disclosed that the exercise was “not a do or die affair” and regretted the death of the Gboko ward chairman who was killed during the training of ward supervisors and polling units officers for the revalidation and registration exercise.

Also speaking during the exercise, Sen Barabbas Gemade pledged to work for the victory of the party in the forthcoming general elections.
