The just sworn-in Interim Committee Chairmen of the 27 local government councils in Imo State have been charged to relocate to their various local government areas to ensure adequate administration of their areas.
The governor of the state, Rt.Hon. Emeka Ihedioha, gave the charge while swearing them in Tuesevening.
According to him, “I expect you to go to their areas to relate with the traditional rulers, religious leaders and the people of the areas. My government would not take it lightly if they were found administering from Owerri.”
Ihedioha made it known to them that the local government was the third tier of government and that they were appointed to ensure that life returned to the rural areas.
He said they should see their appointments as “a golden opportunity” to concentrate and perform on the assignments given to them.
The governor who disclosed that an audit panel would be set up to audit the account of the immediate past local government administration, reiterated his promise to conduct a local government election within six months.
