Relocating Tafawa Balewa LG headquarters back, unrealistic – Group

The Tafawa Balewa Development Association, Bauchi has described the agitation by the Zaar Development Association for the relocation of the local government headquarters back to Tafawa Balewa town as unrealistic.

The local government headquarters was moved to Bununu town by the former governor of the state, Isah Yuguda as a result of endemic communal clashes in the town between the Sayawa and Fulani ethnic groups.

However, a Sayawa socio-cultural group known as Zaar Development Association recently called for the restoration of the local government headquarters back to Tafawa Balewa town and the establishment of Sayawa chiefdom.

Another group known as the Tafawa Balewa Development Association in a statement issued by its chairman and secretary; Shu’aibu Sale Umar and Yunusa Ado respectively, wondered why ZDA are agitating, knowing that the state House of Assembly had passed two bills on the matter.

The statement said the state Assembly resolution was as a result of series of ethno religious crises which started mostly from Tafawa Balewa town.

It stressed that since the measure had brought about peace among majority of the people of the local government especially residents of the town, the sleeping dog should be allowed to lie without further provocations.
