I remain firm, committed to security of Benue – Ortom

Governor Samuel Ortom of Benue state yesterday said his administration is working assiduously to ensure that lives and property of citizens of the state are protected.
The governor stated this at the Catholic Youth Centre, Makurdi during the dedication ceremony of Lutor Samuel Isho Adanyi by the family of the Majority Leader of the Benue State House of Assembly, Hon Benjamin Adanyi.
He said the attack on the state would never distract him from providing the needed democratic dividends to his people.
The governor noted that the open-grazing law in the state was already yielding positive result, especially with prominent Nigerians joining the advocacy for ranching and condemning the wanton killings in the country by Fulani herdsmen.
“Much progress had been recorded on the need for ranching of livestock as being championed by my administration.
“God has already started hearing the prayers of Benue people and I believe that the displaced persons would soon return to their homes to continue with their normal activities,” he added.
The governor also noted that the problem of payment of salaries would soon become a thing of the past as regular payments had commenced since the beginning of the year, stressing that money would be sourced and arrears cleared.
He prayed that the dedicated child who bears the same name with him would grow under the fear and protection of God and be successful in life.
Ortom, accompanied by the Speaker of the Benue State House of Assembly and other top government functionaries, participated in the Palm Sunday procession which ushered in the church service.
