Remains of pioneer Catholic Bishop of Zaria, Dodo, laid to rest 

The remains of the pioneer Catholic Bishop of Zaria, Most Rev George Jonathan Dodo has been finally laid to rest.

He was buried on Thursday at the CKC Church Yoruba Street in Sabon-Gari Zaria after a funeral mass at the St Joseph’s Minor Seminary Basawa Zaria.

Our correspondent who attended the funeral mass, reports that 12 visiting Bishops from different parts of the country, graced the interment. Kaduna state deputy governor, Hajiya Hadiza Sabuwa Balarabe represented Governor Nasir Ahmed el-Rufai at the funeral.

In his remarks, the Vice President Conference of Catholic Bishops, the Most Reverend Mathew Man’o’so Ndagoso, described the late Bishop Dodo as a man of honour and faith, who sacrificed his entire life for the service of the Lord and humanity.

He recalled that the late Bishop, who died a week after his father’s demise, will forever be remembered as a strong pillar to the Catholic Church.

Ndagoso prayed for the repose of George Dodo, and for God to grant him eternal life.

Also speaking, the deputy governor of Kaduna state, Hadiza Sabuwa Balarabe, who is from the same area with the late Bishop, eulogised him for being a crusader of religious tolerance and an advocate of peace and unity among the diverse people of the state and country.

Late Bishop George Jonathan Dodo died on Friday, July 8, 2022 at the ABU Teaching Hospital, Shika, Zaria.
