Rep denies dumping APC for factional group

A member of the House of Representatives, Hon. Abubakar Suleja, has denied rumours that he has defected from the mainstream All Progressives Congress (APC), to the break-away Reformed All Progressives Congress (R-APC).
Speaking during a chat with media men at the National Assembly yesterday, the lawmaker representing Gurara/Suleja/Tafa Federal Constituency of Niger State said “I’m a bonafide and card carrying member of the APC, explaining that he had in the past held the post of National Youth Leader of the party.
Recall that in the aftermath of the party’s National Convention in June, the factional R-APC, made up of members mostly of the defunct New Peoples Democratic Party (nPDP), broke away from the party, citing refusal of the APC to carry them along in the scheme of things.
But Suleja who was rumoured to have joined the factional R-APC stressed that he has not switched camp, noting that as a founding member of the party, “my loyalty remains with the APC and President Muhammadu Bubari”.
He explained that though he had his personal relationship with one of the leading members of the R-APC, Senator Musa Kwanwaso, and shares his political ideologies, he said “I’m still a member of the APC”.
