Rep empowers 2, 000 students, women in Katsina

The member representing Dutsin-ma/Kurfi Federal Constituency of Katsina state Hon, Awwalu Sani Rawayau, has distributed over N50 million as scholarship and economic empowerment tools to over 2000 students in his constituency.

Distributing the assistance yesterady at Kurfi local government secretariat, Hon Awwalu Rawayau said the gesture was part of his economic empowerment initiated to assist the people of his area.

He said about 1, 500 students were assisted with scholarship to further their studies within the country, while 520 women were given empowerment tools to be self- reliant.

Rawayau said students undergoing degree courses would be assisted with N7, 000 yearly, while Diploma and NCE students in the area would be receiving N4, 000 each.

According to him, 55 women were assisted with sewing machine freely, 50 women collected grinding machines as well six men were assisted with six tricycles freely to improve their economic status.

He said 70 youths were given brand new motorcycles vulcanising machines and welding machines freely.
Others items distributed included 20 set of computers, 3, 000 text books of English Language, Biology, Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry.

Rawayau, said he purchased five new transformers in his efforts to improve electrification in Dutsin-ma, Kurfi, Karofi and Rawayau towns.
He said already 50 communities were assisted with potable drinking water within the last two years of his election into the National Assembly.

The District Head of the Area and Maradin Katsina Alhaji Amadu Kurfi expressed happiness over the gesture as well charge the beneficiaries to make judicial used of the gesture.

Those attended the ceremony included the state PDP Chairman Alh Rabi’u Gambo who represent Governor Ibrahim Shema, Agric and Education Commissioners, Special adviser on science and technology, Alhaji Suleiman Nuhu Kuki, Kurfi local government chairman, Nura Amadi Kurfi, politicians and stakeholders in the area.
