Reps back Tinubu on subsidy removal

The House of Representatives has saluted the courage and bolness of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to remove subsidy on petrol.

The Houae has also appealed to Nigerians to remain patient, resilient and prayerful so that the President can deliver on his promises.

The resolution followed adoption of a motion sponsored under matters of urgent public importance, by Hon. Abdulraheem Olajide on Tuesday,  seeking support for decision.

President Tinubu had on May 29, 2023 made a public pronouncement during his inaugural speech, on fuel subsidy removal.

“President Tinubu is a concerned senior citizen who’s agenda is to favour the down trodden for the purpose of humanity”, the lawmaker said, adding that there is no provision for fuel subsidy in the 2023 Appropriation Act.

He noted that the current 9th Assembly and the past administration had given it a legal backing, advising that further legislative actions in supporting Mr President in delivering dividends of democracy will go along way in enhancing development “because he asked for it, he campaigned for it!! And he is ready for the task ahead”.
