Reps’ delegation to visit Katsina over rainstorm, flood

The House of Representatives has resolved to send a delegation to Katsina State over Tuesday’s rainstorm and flood and to commiserate with the people of Jibia local government area that was worse hit.
This followed a motion on the matter brought under matters of urgent national importance, by Hon.
Salisu Salisco, who expressed regrets that 58 persons reportedly lost their lives, and 20 were still missing after the incident.
The House which observed a minute’s silence in honour of the victims also called on the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), to urgently provide relief materials for the affected persons.
On the impact of the storm, Salisco said:”Many houses were destroyed and more than 500 people have lost their homes and are using the primary schools as temporary shelter, while many have been hospitalized”.
The lawmaker commended the urgent intervention of the Katsina state Governor, Bello Masari as well as the federal government delegation, led by Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, for the on-thespot assessment visit to the affected area.
