Rerun: Bauchi CP directs DPOs to deliver votes to APC- PDP alleges

The Chairman Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Bauchi state, Alhaji Hamza Akuyam, has alleged that the state Commissioner of Police Ali Janga has directed Divisional Police Officers (DPOs) in 15 local government areas where supplementary election would take place to deliver their areas to the ruling All Progressive Congress or face severe sanctions.

Akuyam made the allegation on Friday at a press conference, where he claimed that a reliable information at their disposal indicates that the Commissioner of Police Ali Janga held a meeting with his senior officers and Divisional Police Officers (DPO) of 15 local government areas where the supplementary election is to be conducted and allegedly ordered them to rig the election in favour of APC.

” The said meeting was held on 21st March, 2019 at the Police officers mess adjacent to Zaranda Hotel, Bauchi”.

”CP Ali Janga categorically directed DPOs in the affected areas to deliver the results in those units in favour of the ruling APC in the state or face sanctions. He had threatened that failure to do that would be met with dire consequences in additional to losing their positions as DPOs”.

”What we found more dumbfounding is his directives to the DPOs , that should they encounter agents of the ruling party APC buying votes during the election they should look the other way. However, in the same breath he instructed them to arrest any agents of opposing parties especially the PDP who dared Challenge those APC agents involved in vote buying and to charge them with the offence of causing disturbance or disruption of the electoral process”. He alleged.
