‘Research grant writing panacea for varsity system’s global view sustenance’

A professor of medical microbiology, Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, Mrs. Adebola Tolulope Olayinka has stressed the importance of research writing in sustaining university system’s global view.

Professor Olayinka while delivering lecture at a seminar and symposium organised by the Directorate of Linkages, Office of the Vice Chancellor, Nasarawa State University, Keffi, underscored the need to ascertain the challenges of research grant writing experienced by the university staff, with the view to seeking appropriate solutions.

She said this would reawaken the academia in the state university to reflect on international dimensions in key aspects of their activities with a view to attracting grants, faculties and students in delivering values and encourage innovations among academics through international partnership and linkages.

Speaking further, she emphasised that the deliverables expected after the symposium, if adequate measures are put in place, would enhance research grant wining and internalisation activities in Nasarawa State University towards better visibility in global ranking; guide academic staff on effective collaboration and linkages with foreign partners, thereby making the university more responsive to state and national needs and strengthen linkage office for value addition, and global engagements.

She praised Nasarawa State University for the establishment of the Directorate of Linkages, towards global visibility and network as a right step in the right direction, ascribing the feat to responsible leadership and integrity of the university system.

Present at the occasions were representatives of the Vice Chancellor of NSUK, Professor Suleiman Bello Muhammed; Directorate of Linkages, Dr. Othman Fatima; Dean, Faculty of Natural and Applied Sciences, Prof. Umar Gurku;  Chairman, Committee on Linkages Directorate, Prof. Y.B Ngwai; the Deputy Director of Linkages, Dr. Akyala Ishaku; Director ICT and Heads of Departments in the Faculty of Natural and Applied Sciences.
