Restore Nigeria’s sovereignty, veteran war correspondent charges

A veteran war correspondent based in Kogi state, Alhaji Ahmed Adoke, has charged President Muhammadu Buhari to take a bold step towards restoring the dignity and sovereignty of Nigeria.

Adoke gave the charge in Lokoja Monday while speaking on the recent re-arrest of the leader of Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu. He said the unity of the country is divine and urged the president and the attorney general of the federation not to allow those who feign ignorance of the sacrifices made by Nigerian heroes to succeed in their aspiration of destroying the nation.

He said since the creation of IPOB in 2014, the group has committed atrocities that have caused more deaths, economic hardships, and infrastructural losses to the people they claim to represent.

He stated further that the resultant consequence of their inactions led the Federal Government of Nigeria to proscribe the group, and label it a terrorist organisation.

Adoke who is also a human rights activist and a notable security consultant said ” Kanu, haven jumped bail in 2017 had ample time and opportunity to retrace his steps. But rather than doing so, he out rightly militarised his loyalists and continued to incite them towards violent insurrections and killings across the South east.
” I am confident that the Attorney General of the Federation, Abubakar Malami, SAN, in his admirable penchant for rule of law would ensure that the justice is meted out on this man whose actions and inactions have caused miseries in the lives of many Nigerians.”
