Return journey: Abide by 8kg hand luggage rule, NAHCON advises pilgrims


The National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON) has again advised pilgrims to adhere strictly to the one single hand luggage of eight kilogram approved by carriers, aviation authorities and NAHCON, at the airport.


The head of the NAHCON reception team at the King Abdulaziz International Airport, Jeddah, Alhaji Muhammad Bakari Girei who gave the advise also called on states’ Hajj officials to ensure that their pilgrims abided by all entry and exit rules and regulations guiding airport and aviation activities, for hitch-free and ease of check in.


The head of the reception team said so far the airlift operation is going on smoothly without any hitch and Pilgrims were exhibiting high moral standard of discipline and respect to laid down guidelines.
He said over 5000 Nigerian Pilgrims have already reunited with their families since the beginning of the return journey in about 11 flights within the last one week.
Most of the pilgrims airlifted so far are from Lagos, Katsina, Kebbi, Kano and Zamfara States.
Speaking on Saturday in Makkah, the Commissioner Operations of NAHCON, Alhaji Abdullahi Modibbo Saleh said September 14, 2019 is the tentative date for the end of this year’s airlift of Nigerian Pilgrims back to Nigeria.
