Return ‘N3bn looted fund’, Kaura-Namoda ASUP tells rector

 

Academic Staff Union of Polytechnics (ASUP), Federal Polytechnic Kaura-Namoda chapter, has called on outgoing Rector, Engr. Ahmed Abubakar Lugga, to refund the N3 billion allegedly looted from the coffers of the polytechnic from 2010 to 2017.
The chairman of the union, Comrade Umar Usman Maikunkele, made this call at a press conference held at the NUJ press centre, Gusau, the Zamfara state capital, yesterday.
According to him, the call became imperative considering the condition of the polytechnic, as a result of the alleged diversion and misappropriation of the polytechnic’s fund by the Lugga administration since he assumed office 2010 to date.
He said, already, a petition has been written to EFCC for further and thorough investigation on the matter so that the alleged looted fund by the rector can be fully recovered from him.
“The EFCC on the 5th of March this year had invited our union for the adoption of the petition at the Northwest Zonal Office Kaduna.
” He said, already, a recommendation in respect of the Rector has been communicated to the Minister of Education in accordance with the Federal Polytechnic Act, adding that, the union was yet to receive officially the full report of the investigation from the governing council.
The ASUP leader stated that, a panel of investigation committee had been constituted by the governing council of the polytechnic on the matter in which four principal officers, including the Registrar, Bursar, Librarian and Deputy Rector, were served letters relieving them of their respective positions.
