Chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party and presidential hopeful, Alhaji Sule Lamido, has appealed to the Senate President, Bukola Saraki and governors Aminu Tambuwal and Abdulfatah Ahmed of Sokoto and Kwara states respectively as well as former governors, Senator Rabi’u Musa Kwankwaso, Attahiru Bafarawa, and Aliyu Wammako that defected from the party to the APC before the 2015 general elections to return to the fold.
Also, the former Governor of Jigawa State has lampooned the All Progressives Congress (APC) led government for subjecting Nigerians to unbearable misrule.
Lamido, who stated these over the weekend while commissioning the PDP office in Ringim, the headquarters of Ringim local government area, also lambasted the APC’s inability to fulfil its campaign as well keep prominent politicians such as the former Vice President, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, and others in its fold.
Lamido, who was overwhelmed by the massive turnout of supporters that thronged the venue said: “I’m begging all those that left the PDP to join this party of dreamers and fake people to come back to the PDP which made you politically relevant and made you what you are today”.
“We knew that sooner or later this would happen, because it is an amalgamation of strange bed fellows that formed the APC. Someone like Alhaji Atiku felt he could support its course, yet today they have betrayed him and they will all betray you if you don’t leave the APC”.
Lamido declared that the commissioning of the new the PDP office in Ringim was in response to some overzealous politicians who claimed that the PDP is dead in the state.
He urged other local government units to replicate the same feat in their areas.
“The APC is a composition of fraudsters ‎that usurped God’s work of passing judgment on Nigerians. Even recently I was sent to Kiyawa Prison ‎just to shut my mouth. But I am the will of God that can never be shut down by any mortal”, he concluded.
APC threatens to sanction members over attack on Amaechi, party leadership
The ALL Progressives Congress (APC) Rivers state chapter has threatened to discipline prominent members of the party for allegedly attacking the Minister of Transportation, Chief Rotimi Chibuike Amaechi and the leadership of the party at various levels.
The party directed those in the habit of verbally attacking the Minister of other leaders to desist forthwith, warning that it would sanctioned those that they failed to heed the warning.
Chairman of the party, Mr Davies Ikanya, in a statement yesterday in Port Harcourt, said although members have the constitutional of freedom of speech but frowned at incessant verbal attacks on Amaechi and other party leaders in recent time.
According to him, rather than resort to public attacks, the members should exploit the proper channels set up by the party to air their grievances and express their views on party matters.
“This class of leaders in their quest for political relevance have not ceased on daily basis to disparage the person and personality of Rt. Hon. Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi, erstwhile Governor of Rivers State and incumbent Minister of Transportation and the undisputed leader of our party in the State”.
“That the party leadership decides to keep calm and quiet all these while shouldn’t be misconstrued as a sign of weakness to warrant these ceaseless attacks on our party leader, Rt. Hon. Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi, whose single mission is to build a virile, vibrant, cohesive, united chapter of the party capable of salvaging the State from the hands of undemocratic elements currently pervading and exhibiting all manners of bad governance inimical to the growth and prosperity of our dear State.
“As much as we will not discourage or hinder any member of our great party from exercising their powers of freedom of speech, association or movement but such speeches, movements or associations shouldn’t result to stunted growth of our party both at the State and National levels.
“Let us for once warn and caution those concerned not only to call themselves to order but direct their subordinates and supporters to understand the limits they can be used to run down our party or bring down all the efforts we have collectively put in building this party to what it is today”, the chairman said.
