Return to PDP, Okunlade tells Alao-Akala

A chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and former Majority Leader in Oyo State House of Assembly, Hon Michael Okunlade on Tuesday advised  the former governor of the state, Otunba Adebayo Alao-Akala to leave the All Progressives Congress (APC) before it will be too late.

Hon Okunlade in a statement made available to newsmen in Ibadan asked Otunba Alao-Akala to return to his political base,  the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), rather than staying put at what he called crisis ridden APC in Oyo state.

According to Hon Okunlade the time is ripe for the former governor to without wasting time leave APC considering the factional crisis tearing the party apart in Oyo state and return to his former base, the PDP .

The former Majority leader in the Oyo State House of Assembly emphasized that if the former governor can return to PDP , he would no doubt emerge as the party’s natural leader in the state, going by the fact that it was the PDP that gave Otunba Alao-Akala the opportunity to be the deputy governor and later governor of the state between 2003 and 2011.

Hon Okunlade in the statement stressed that Otunba Alao-Akala stands to earn more respect in the PDP than the present situation for him in the APC.

“I am pleading to His Excellency to come back to the PDP. Alao-Akala should come back home and build his party. Nobody in PDP,  I repeat nobody in PDP can look at his eyes and say he is not a leader. it is very ridiculous for such to be in contention or be brought to the public domain”, he said.

Hon Okunlade added, “he can lead any party not only in the state even at the national level. Who among those trying to make an issue out of nothing can beat his record politically? My sincere advice to him is to come to his very own party and help to salvage it”.
