A student of the Federal University of Technology (FUTO) Owerri, Mr Phillip Brian Otobha, has appealed to the President of the Senate, Ahmad Lawan and the Senate Committee on Ethics, Privileges and Public Petitions to revisit the case of victimisation, extortion and breach of duty he leveled against some lecturers of the institution.
The native of Emede in Isoko South local government area of Delta state with registration number 20091700346 had petitioned the Senate last year, alleging that two lecturers, Mr Akionbare and Mr Onanuju were stalling his graduation since 2014.
He alleged that the duo threatened to stall his graduation for refusing their N100, 000 demand in order to pass their subjects, adding that the duo made good their threats by deliberately ensuring that he failed the courses – PRT 504 and PRT 513 – after he had worked so hard to secure good grades.
Recall that his petition had received the attention of the senate committee which had invited the concerned parties to present their respective cases and subsequently ordered the respondents to provide the answer scripts of the petitioner to enable it conclude the matter.
Otobha regretted that over one year of that directive, there was no response from the institution and the affected lecturers, and therefore has again written an appeal to the Senate President and the committee to revisit the matter.
The petition, which was signed by his counsel, M.A. Ogbodogbo from an Asaba-based law firm, thanked and appreciated the Senate President for the initial intervention and pleaded for a conclusive deliberation on the matter.
