Revival of moribund textile firms in Kaduna

Hopes blinks for our moribund textile companies as Vlisco group has signified interest to invest in them courtesy of the Kaduna State Government investment drive.
This is one thing I have always prayed for. In the 90’s a young student of Command Secondary School Kakuri, Kaduna, I knew how lively those textile companies were and we also went to some of them on excursions. The textile workers were the big boys in town back then. They ride big cars and looked very comfortable with their jobs. Years after the companies collapsed due to the failure of past governments to provide succour for companies that were in distress, a case study was what the American government did to rescue GM Motors. Our government should have such plans to rescue big companies that have potentials of providing thousands of jobs and stimulating the economy. Such companies should not be allowed to fold up thus rendering people jobless. I pray the intention of Vlisco to invest in the textile companies materializes soon so our textile companies would bounce back stronger.
May I appreciate the untiring efforts of the state governor, Malam Nasiru Ahmed El-Rufai, a visionary leader as I often refer him to for his foresight and steadfastness towards bringing investments into the state. If previous governors from 1999-date had the same vision and drive as Governor El-Rufai, Kaduna State would have for long joined the league of developed states of the world and unemployment rate would have reduced. Within three years of his rule, several investments have been attracted to the state ranging from Olam, Vicampro, Mahindra assembling plant, Tomato Jos, Dangote group and many other intending investors who are on the verge of doing business in Kaduna state. The resultant effect of this is stimulating the state’s economy and providing job opportunity for teeming youths. Kaduna State is indeed blessed to have a man with vision and foresight as governor. Kaduna State under El-Rufai shall be great again.
