RIFAN seeks more loans for rice farmers

Chairman, Kaduna chapter of Rice Famers Association of Nigeria (RIFAN), Alhaji Mohammed Umar Numbu, has urged farmers in Southern part of the state to patronise the association by availing themselves of the loan facilities offered by the Central Bank of Nigeria to boost rice production in the area.

Numbu gave the urge while speaking to newsmen in Kafanchan on Monday saying, the loan patronage by the people in the area in respect of rice production was low.

He urged the youth to desist from the scramble for non-existing white collar jobs through indulging in innovations such as loan and full participation in rice production geared towards boosting food production.

The chairman said the handful of people currently participating in the programme across the area was far below the expectation of the association, adding that loans would soon be disbursed to interested famers for rice cultivation in the dry season.

He, however, stressed the importance of prompt payment of the loan will enable the farmers have another offer, aside providing new registered Famers the opportunity to also benefit.

The state chairman, who appreciated President Muhammadu Buhari, Governor Nasir Ahmed el-Rufai of Kaduna State and the National President of RIFAN Alhaji Goronyo for their support towards rice production which he said, was yielding desired results, told the farmers to reciprocate the gesture to achieve set goals.
