Rights activist asks INEC not to use NIN as data base for elections

…Alleges compromise

A human Rights Activist and a legal practitioner, Malcolm Omirhobo has urged the Independent National Electoral Commission INEC not to use the National Identification Number NIN as the data base for election in Nigeria on the grounds that it has been highly compromised.

Omirhobo who stormed the INEC headquarters in Abuja with letters also observed that the NIN does not represent the true demographic of Nigeria and should be considered inappropriate for conduct of election.

Officials of the electoral body who received the Activist at the entrance of the INEC headquarters accompanied him to the office where the receipt of the letters were acknowledged.

Omirhobo further noted that the minister of communication and digital economy, Isa Pantami who was accused of having link with terrorists has not cleared his name and therefore should not drive the NIN process.

The Activist is equally alleging that the NIN system provides illegal aliens the opportunity to become Nigerian citizens through the back door.
