Rivers Hoopers emerge champions of NBBF President Cup


 

Rivers Hoopers have been crowned champions of the NBBF President Cup after a blowout win over Raptors on Sunday in Lagos.
The KingsMen mauled the young Raptors team 97-57 points to pick the sole ticket to the NBA-FIBA  Basketball Africa League scheduled for March next year.
Ikechukwu Benjamin scored 20 points, three rebounds, one assist and two steals, Victor Anthony had 15 points and 12 rebound double-double while Solomon Ajegbeyi added 11 points, four rebounds and two assists.


Abdul Yahaya who add nine points and four rebounds against Raptors was awarded the Most Valuable Player and also made the competition top five players.
Yahaya said, “I want to appreciate my teammates because without my team mates I can’t be the MVP or one of the top five players of the tournament. All glory goes to God and I thank my team mates and coaches. The real MVP is my fellow players and coaches. 


Yahaya was in the top five alongside his team mate Ikechukwu Benjamin, Ginikachukwu Godspower (Raptors), Godwin David (Kwara Falcons) and Gabriel Erameh (Niger Potters).
Hoopers’ Victor Anthony won the highest blocked shots while Ebuka Innocent of Raptors bagged the Highest Rebounder. 
Oyebanji Mustapha (Kwara Falcons) emerged highest scorer of the competition while the highest three points award went to Ginikachukwu Godpower (Raptors)
Earlier, Kwara Falcons beat Niger Potters 78-77 to win the third place game of the NBBF President Cup. 


Hoopers head coach Ogoh Odaudu said, “I don’t know the word to use to categorise how I feel right now can’t find the right word. All in all I thank God everything worked together for us. We are very happy and proud to have won this championship.”
