Rivers: NDLEA arrests 312 drug suspects in one year 

 The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) in Rivers says state command arrested 312 suspects, comprising 206 males and 56 females from January to December, 2022.

They were arrested in connection with hard drugs such as cocaine, heroin, cannabis sativa, methamphetamine (aka mkpurunmiri), tramadol, diazepam, and other psychotropic substances weighing 2.33 kg.

Deputy State Commander, Media and Advocacy NDLEA  Rivers state command, DCN Emmanuel Ogbumgbada, disclosed this in a statement issued to Blueprint Wednesday.

The command equally secured conviction of 119 drug offenders with 115 pending cases at the Federal High Court, Port Harcourt. 

 The convicts are serving various jail terms at the Correctional Service Centre, Port Harcourt.

 The command also successfully rehabilitated 40 drug dependent persons in makeshift rehabilitation centre, and conducted anti-drug abuse campaign to various schools, communities, religious groups, traditional kingdoms and corporate organisations in the state. 

The state commander, Ahmed Mamuda, while expressing appreciation to the people of Rivers state for collaborating with the agency in fight against drugs in 2022, further advised the people to continue to partner with the agency in 2023 to stamp out the drug menace in the society.
