RMRDC inaugurates anti-corruption unit

The Raw Materials Research and Development Council (RMRDC) inaugurates members of the ‘Anti-corruption and Transparency Unit’ (ACTU) within the Council in line with the aspiration and anti-corruption drive of the present Administration.

According to the Director Industrial, Chemical and Minerals Department RMRDC Dr. Mohammed Lawal Buga who represented the Director General Prof. Hussaini Doko Ibrahim that, “ACTU initiated an innovative ideas of sending messages to generality of staff as well as sensitizing the Council’s staff on Anti-corruption laws. I observed that the messages have impacted on attitudinal disposition of staff,” he stated.

Ibrahim made this statement at the inauguration of the ACTU of the Raw Materials Research and Development Council on Tuesday in Abuja.

The Director General assured stakeholders of full support and cooperation with the desk officer. Adding that, “we will also continue to partner with relevant stakeholders in the fight against corruption as well as provide enabling environment for the ACTU members to continue to function effectively.”

Speaking, Mr. Olayinka Ayegbayo, representing the Chairman Independent Corrupt Practices and other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) Prof. Bolaji Owasanoye  urged the newly inaugurated members to gear themselves towards instilling transparent and accountable system which are the necessary ingredients for achieving a sanitized work environment.

“I implore you to work hard and refrain from succumbing to the temptation of using your office to victimize or witch-hunt other members of staff. You should strive to live above board at all times just as I encourage you to enlist the support of both management and staff in seeking ways to achieve positive results and to justify the trust reposed in you,” he added.

Speaking, the Chairman ACTU Dr. Gabriel Awolehin assured the stakeholders of their goodwill to carry-out major responsibilities required of them, adding that, “we have been on this matter for 2 years now but glad that we are making a headway because whatever we are doing outside the inauguration is illegal but now I know we can work confidently and judiciously.”
