RMRDC to visit Australian research institutes

The Raw Materials Research and Development Council (RMRDC), participated on the road fashion roadshow that highlighted Nigeria’s richness in mineral resources which was anchored by the Nigerian High Commission in conjunction with MASEMA and quite a number of public and private sectors personnel attended.

RMRDC was one of those organisations that attended together with Ministry of Solid Minerals.

In respect to this, the High Commissioner to Australia, Amb. Bello Kazaure Husseini, requested the visit of the Director-General RMRDC and his delegates to intimate with other research institutes in Australia.

According to Husseini, “Australia is a lovely country which is well organised and has a lot of things we as a nation can learn from them. We should do our best to mobilise more Nigerians to learn more in order to come back and add value because we have our citizens there doing very well and making us proud in some universities there.”

The ambassador who said this during a courtesy visit to the office of the DG RMRDC recently in Abuja.

Responding, the DG RMRDC urged the ambassador to also focus on the academia so that some research institute can be part of the reasonable research and not only concentrating on the business group. Promising to mobilise more people to be part of the initiative.

Speaking, the Deputy Director Documentation RMRDC, Mr. In Uke shared more light stating that, “the show was held in Melbourne one of the best Liverpool city in the world and also held in a part of Australia close to Africa. We had contact with them on the mandate to keep highlighting the issues faced in STI and Research Institutes respectively so we used the privilege for him to visit the director general and the ambassador acknowledging that raw material has been doing tremendously well and when we went we provided them with the Council’s kits.

“We discussed on opportunities to visit Raw Materials Research Institute so that we can resolve beyond the Research Institute Council in Nigeria and to also collaborate with other Research Institute in Australia, maybe those things we partnered with DOVETELL where there can be an exchange programme and can send people to understudy when you go to the Council.”

He said the outcome of the meeting is to involve Nigerians in any form of grants and further interaction cooperation and also creating avenues for the willingness and future collaboration in linking RMRDC with other Research Institute and to also promote the use of Raw Materials that will enhance the government.
