Road Safety Corps flag off ember month campaign in Yenagoa

The Federal Road Safety Corps  Thursday flagged off the ember month campaign  to remind all motorists once more that they have to drive to stay alive.

Flagging off the campaign with the theme Operation Zero  Christmas/New Year Safety campaign, tagged “Right to life On the highway not negotiable”  the Zonal Commanding Officer Kingsley Agomoh  told road users especially drivers that the importance of driving  safely cannot be overemphasized.

He said ” This Christmas  period,we don’t want any body to die. We don’t want  drivers to turn our wives to widows. We don’t want any driver to turn our children to orphans”

He stated that  the drivers should drive safely.

Also speaking, the state Sector Commander of Road Safety  Ikechukwu Igwe said  that  drivers should reduce their speed.

He said” Road safety is for all of us. It is not for road safety officers alone”

Igwe said “We don’t want to carry any dead body this year”.

Also reacting to questions from the tricycle riders On overload, igwe said the illegality can’t be legalized, ”

“We can’t legalise overloads, the law  said it that overload attracts same fine irrespective of the type of locomotives ”

The campaign brought together keke riders, buss Drivers and other road users.
