Road traffic service moves against fake licence

Area Commander, Directorate of Road Traffic Services (DRTS) in-charge of Wuye Taskforce command, Mr.
Abdullahi Awwal Nakata, has cautioned motorists to shun touts who take the advantage of some members of the public to issue them fake driver’s licence.
He disclosed this in a chat with our correspondent in his office while encouraging motoring public to always visit VIO offices located in the six Area Councils of the FCT to obtain genuine licence even as he noted that any person who asked them to submit passport is a tout.
The DRTS 0fficer explained that the proper guidelines for obtaining genuine licence include taking of applicant’s biometrics, payment of recommended fee and submission of vehicle particulars among others, which he said should follow proper channel, even as he warned motorists to stop plying the road with rickety vehicles.
Nakata tasked motorists to always abide by the traffic rules and regulations and cooperate with their officers while on patrol, saying the management of DRTS was marking efforts to improve good relationship between its staff and motorists.
He reiterated the commitment of the command to tackle the menace of one chance, kidnapping and robbery incidents in Wuye and its environs even as he noted that measures were being put in place to check mate the activities of criminals in the city centre.
He remarked that the taskforce was committed toward ensuring motorists conform to traffic rules and regulations, adding that the command would continue to arrest motorcycles, eliminate illegal mechanic workshops and wrong parking.
He commended the FCT director of DTRS, Wadata Bodinga for giving priority attention on the training and re-training of staff and tasked patrol officers to be diplomatic while dealing wiTherring motorists on the high ways.
