Roads construction: Yobe signs N1.8bn contracts across 3 LGs

Yobe state government in partnership with local government councils of the state has signed N1,811,140,922.00 contracts for construction of various roads and concrete culverts to ease movement of goods and services in Tarmuwa, Fune and Karasuwa local government councils.

Signing the contract Thursday on behalf of the state government, the
Permanent Secretary Ministry of Works and Transport, Adamu Bako
Mohammed, said the projects are to be funded by the affected local
governments paying 70 per cent while the state government will pay 30
per cent.

“The contract we are signing today include construction of 1.5 kilometer road and 3 kilometer concrete culvert in Babbangida at the cost of N492,691,166.30 by Elegance construction company, 1.6 kilometer road and 3.2 concrete culvert at Damagum by E.EC construction company at the cost of N530,362,211.09 all to be completed in 3 months time.

The other community to benefit from this gesture is Jajimaji, the headquarters of Karasuwa local government council which 2.3 kilometer road and 4.6 concrete culvert is to be constructed at the cost of N788,087,605.52 to be completed in four months.

Mohammed enjoined the contractors to deliver the project on time and
also produce a quality jobs.

Some of the contractors told Blueprint, they would mobilise both equipment and manpower to commence the execution of the projects immediately.

The local government chairmen promised to work hand in hand with the
ministry of works and transport by making sure the projects were
executed early for the benefit of the citizens.
