Robbers kill 2, injure 10 in Enugu

Gunmen have killed two people and injured over 10 others in Trans-Ekulu by Damija Junction in Enugu-east council of Enugu state.
Blueprint gathered that the armed men had been terrorising the area even as police authorities in the state said they had setup more surveillance in the area.

An eyewitness, who gave his name as Uche Uroko, told our correspondent that the gunmen killed the two people after robbing them, while those injured were hit by stray bullets.

He said the gunmen entered a petrol station on Enugu-Onitsha expressway to fuel their car and that after attending to them, the pump attendant asked for money and he was shot by one of them who also started shooting sporadically to scare people.
He said it was at that point that stray bullets hit the injured who were later taken to ESUT Teaching Hospital for treatment.

Also, on Aguowa by Enugu-Onitsha expressway, another person was reportedly shot dead after his bag was snatched from him.
At the time of filing this report, the names of the victims were yet to be ascertained, as the state Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Ebere Amaraizu, when contacted, said he was yet to receive the details of the incident.

“Nigeria has enormous human resources that can turn around the economy, but there is a disconnect between education and skills and this is affecting the economy.

“There should be a strong partnership between Technical schools, Polytechnics, and universities. Everything neither should nor revolve around theory. There should be exchange of ideas among these categories of institutions to really build people with intellect and skills. This is the only way we can move our economy.”
