A civil servant in Osun state, Mr. Adenipekun Ademiju, was on Wednesday morning shot dead by some robbers along Ife/Ibadan express way.
The victim, popularly known as Okere, was said to be a staff of Atakumosa West local government area of the state.
He was said to be killed by the robbers who were operating along the road on Wednesday. It was gathered that the deceased boarded a private vehicle at Osu where he was working and got killed on his way to Ibadan.
It was gathered that the bullet hit the deceased during sporadic shooting at the vehicle to stop the driver.
An eye witness said, “The man was killed by Fulani herdsmen who normally rob on this road. Two of them were in the car. The driver escaped through the bush. I think the bullets missed the target; the driver of the car before killing the man.
“The robbers dropped the corpse on the highway and went away with the car”.
The Public Relations Officer of the state police command, Mrs Folashade Odoro, confirmed the incident, saying the police were still investigating the matter.
