Robbers kill four policemen in Kogi bank robbery

Kogi state Police Command, lost four of its officers in Okene local government area as a result of bank robbery attack.
In a press statement signed by the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) Mr. Elvis Aguebor, the PPRO said on Tuesday, armed robbers numbering over 20, unleashed heavy attack on a new generation bank in Okene town, killing four mobile policemen on the spot.
According to the statement, “the gunmen had on emerging from four vehicles fired, sporadically, into the bank premises, killing our men on duty. Their aim was to cart away money from the bank, but the remaining policemen around the bank assisted by other, deployed in the two adjoining banks, gun down two of the robbers in an exchange of fire”.
The statement added that the superior power force of the policemen at the premises of the bank, prompted the remaining robbers to abandon their devilish and unholy quest, saying they fled with various degrees of bullet wounds as two were killed.
The PPRO appealed to members of the public to report anybody seen with bullet wound to the nearest police station or other security agents in the state.
The command, however, reassure the people of the state that the command would not relent in its effort to make the Christmas and New Year celebrations, hitch free.
